Program Details

Class Hours

The class lasts 2 weeks where students will attend from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

The total training hours (76 hours) are broken down into three categories:

  • Classroom: 40 hours
  • Lab: 20 hours
  • Clinical: 16 hours
**Please note that because of a compressed schedule, strict attendance is required.**

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

It is the intent of this class for students to come away with the ability to:

  • Describe the roles and responsibility of nursing assistants
  • Communicate, observe, and report professionally
  • Understand safety and inflectional control practices
  • Demonstrate personal care procedures
  • Describe proper nutrition and hydration
  • Identify stages of growth and development
  • Detail end of life care
  • Understand proper care for clients with cognitive impairment
  • Define common medical terms and abbreviations used in health care
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with professional work ethics
  • Identify body systems and related conditions
  • Comprehend the following about Alzheimer’s Disease:
    • Techniques for addressing the unique needs and behaviors of individual with dementia (Alzheimer’s and others)
    • Communicating with cognitively impaired residents
    • Understanding the behavior of cognitively impaired residents
    • Appropriate responses to the behavior of cognitively impaired residents
    • Methods of reducing the effects of cognitive impairments

Admission Requirements

  • Submit a complete application
  • Provide two forms of ID (Social Security Card and Photo Id)
  • Consent to a criminal background check
  • Pass a drug screen
  • Pass a TB skin screen test.
  • Obtain a current BLS certification before attending clinicals
  • Have an up-to-date flu shot (in season) and physical exam.
  • Provide immunization records 

Tuition

Tuition for the CNA program is $500.
